Welcome back to Slurp & Stream! Sometimes, a quick trip to the convenience store leads you to an absolute hidden gem. Today, I stumbled upon exactly that: the “Seoul Milk Chewy Mochi Ball (Kaymak Flavor)” from GS25.
I actually managed to snag this during a BOGO (Buy One Get One Free) event for just 2,500 KRW (roughly $1.90 USD). Considering the insane value and the surprisingly high quality, I just had to sit down and write this review immediately!
As I mentioned, I scored two packs for $1.90, making it less than a dollar per pack! Honestly, even at the full price of 2,500 KRW for one, I’d think about it, but with the BOGO deal? You absolutely have to grab it.
Inside the packaging, you get two adorably bite-sized mochi balls. They are perfectly proportioned so you can pop them into your mouth in one go without worrying about dropping crumbs everywhere.
The Korean word Jjondeuk translates to a very satisfying, sticky chewiness, and these mochi balls completely live up to their name!
When you take a bite, you are immediately hit with a pleasant, bouncy texture. It’s not tough or hard like stale rice cake; it has a very soft yet remarkably elastic bite. Another huge plus? There is no annoying, messy powder dusting the outside, making it incredibly clean to eat.
Now for the most important part: the cream inside! “Kaymak” is a rich, clotted cream traditionally from Turkey that has become massively popular in Korea recently.
Does this convenience store snack taste like authentic, incredibly thick Turkish Kaymak? To be brutally honest, no. However, it is vastly different from cheap, artificial whipped cream. Because it’s a collaboration with “Seoul Milk” (Korea’s top dairy brand), it boasts an intensely rich, nutty, and high-quality milk flavor.
Even without the traditional honey or syrup drizzled on top, the cream stuffed inside is perfectly sweet and satisfying on its own.
If you love that bouncy, chewy mochi texture paired with high-quality, rich dairy cream, you will not regret this purchase.
Pro Tip: If you are currently in Korea, I highly recommend running to a GS25 and grabbing these before the BOGO event disappears!
