Welcome back to Slurp & Stream! When it comes to a quick, satisfying meal on the go, Korean convenience store burgers are always a solid choice.
Today, I grabbed the “Chicken Egg Spicy Burger” from CU. The combination of chicken and egg is basically a cheat code for a delicious meal, so my expectations were pretty high. Priced at 3,900 KRW (roughly $2.90 USD), does it deliver on its “spicy” promise? Here is my 100% honest, self-funded review!
Right out of the packaging, the very first thing that crossed my mind was, “Wow, this is actually pretty thick!”
Visually, it is incredibly hearty. When I cut it in half to check the cross-section, I was pleasantly surprised to see that it wasn’t some sad, paper-thin patty. Instead, there was a very thick, substantial chicken patty taking center stage, topped with a generous fried egg. In terms of sheer volume and looking like a proper meal, it absolutely passes the test.
Now for the most important part—the taste! If you bought this burger expecting a fiery, sweat-inducing Korean spice level because of the word “Spicy” in the name, you might be a little disappointed.
On the bright side, thanks to the moist egg and the savory sauce, the burger goes down incredibly smoothly. I ate the whole thing without even needing a sip of water!
While it lacks a satisfying crunch and the “spicy” title is a bit misleading, it is still a very decent, everyday convenience store burger. If you are looking to fill your stomach with a thick, hearty meal for under $3, this will definitely get the job done!
