Welcome back to Slurp & Stream. Everyone knows the legendary Korean Choco Pie—the marshmallow-filled comfort snack. Today, I’m trying its “sophisticated” cousin: the GS25 Fresh Cream Choco Pie.
At 2,700 KRW (approx. $2.00 USD) for a single pie, it’s positioned as a premium dessert. In the world of snacks, “Fresh” usually means “Better,” but does the taste justify the luxury price tag? Let’s find out.
When I first opened the package, the chocolate coating had a beautiful, appetizing gloss. If you let it sit at room temperature for a bit, the coating softens up, giving it a velvety look that makes you think, “Okay, maybe this is worth the two dollars.”
The biggest change here is the heart of the pie.
This is where the excitement died. For a “Premium Choco Pie,” I expected a deep, rich chocolate punch. Instead, the flavor was surprisingly muted and weak. If you’re a true chocoholic looking for that intense cocoa fix, you’re going to find this very underwhelming.
I’ve had some low scores before, like the Choco-Tree Forest Bread (4/10), but this one just plummeted.
They swapped the marshmallow for cream and doubled the price, but they forgot the flavor. Save your $2.00 and go buy two Crab Salad Sandwiches (9/10) instead!
