Welcome back to Slurp & Stream! If you’ve been following my journey, you know I’ve been on a quest for the perfect meal. Today, I found it. In Korea, there are two legendary dishes that rule the lunch scene: Pork Cutlet (Donkasu) and Spicy BBQ Pork (Jeyuk).
CU decided to put them BOTH in one box. For 5,800 KRW (approx. $4.25 USD), you get the “Pork Cutlet & Spicy Pork Double Bento.” Is this the ultimate convenience store meal? Let’s find out!
Opening this bento felt like a special occasion. Most lunchboxes force you to choose between crispy or spicy, but this “Double Set” offers both. For under 5 dollars, the portion size is massive and the variety is impressive. It feels like a real, home-cooked meal in a box.
I’ve had mixed luck with pork cutlets in kimbaps (ranging from a 2/10 to a 6/10), but this bento finally got it right.
What makes a Korean bento (Dosirak) special are the side dishes (banchan). This box comes with stir-fried Kimchi, a mini sausage, and even a secret stash of spaghetti tucked under the pork cutlet!
The ratio of rice to sides is perfect. Unlike the “Big” triangle kimbaps that are often 90% rice, every bite of rice here has a delicious partner.
This is officially the highest-rated meal in Slurp & Stream history so far! It beats out our 7-point champions like the Bulgogi Jeonju Bibim by a mile because of its sheer variety and quality.
If you’re standing in CU and you can’t decide what to eat, stop thinking and grab this. The cutlet carries the team, the sides are solid, and for $4.25, you’re getting the “Standard of Excellence” for Korean convenience store dining.
