Welcome back to Slurp & Stream! If you’re a fan of the “sweet and creamy” combo, you know that Red Bean and Cream is the ultimate power couple in the world of Korean bakeries. Today, I’m testing the GS25 Hyeja-roun Red Bean & Cream Bread.
At just 1,500 KRW (approx. $1.10 USD), it’s significantly cheaper than what you’d pay at a high-end bakery (usually $2.00 or more). But does the low price mean low quality? Let’s find out if this budget bread can hold its weight!
The first thing you’ll notice when you pick this up is the weight. It feels surprisingly heavy for a convenience store bread, which is always a good sign. Visually, it looks like a nostalgic, classic Korean red bean bun—simple, golden-brown, and inviting.

Even with all that cream, the base is still a traditional red bean bread. The best way to enjoy this? A tall glass of ice-cold milk. The milk cuts through the sweetness and creates a silky smooth finish that will make you forget this only cost about a dollar.
In my personal “Hyeja Bread Rankings,” this takes a solid 2nd place! It definitely beats the Strawberry Castella for me, though the Peanut Cream Bread still holds the top spot.
I recommend this if:
My Re-purchase Intent: 100%. Whenever I’m craving that classic, sweet bakery vibe, this is a no-brainer.
