Welcome back to Slurp & Stream! Today, I’m chasing a legend. In Korea, Baskin Robbins’ “Choco-Tree Forest” (a mix of dark chocolate and matcha) is an iconic ice cream flavor. So, when GS25 dropped a Cream Bread version for 3,500 KRW (approx. $2.55 USD), I sprinted to the store.
Will this be a forest of flavor, or just a patch of dry grass? Let’s find out!
As soon as I opened the bag, I was stunned by the color. The bread itself is a deep, vibrant green that practically screams “Matcha!” Visually, it’s a 10/10—it looks exactly like the kind of trendy dessert you’d see all over Instagram.
In the world of Korean C-store breads, the “half-split shot” (Ban-gal-shot) is everything. If the cream is lacking, it’s a failure.
The Good News: This bread is packed. When I split it open, the cream overflowed beautifully. There’s a generous amount of filling that hits that satisfying, indulgent ratio we all crave.
This is where the excitement cooled down. Despite the intense green color, the actual flavor was a bit of a letdown.
It’s a beautiful bread with plenty of filling, but it lacks the character of the original ice cream flavor.
A 10/10 for visuals, but the flavor is just a whisper of matcha passing by. Great for the ‘gram, but maybe not for the matcha purists!
