Welcome back to C-Store Eats! Today, we are testing a product that features one of Korea’s most legendary culinary heritages: GS25’s “The Bigger” Jeonju Bibimbap Tuna Mayo Triangle Gimbap.
Jeonju Bibimbap is famous for its savory, slightly spicy gochujang-infused mixed rice. Wrapping that flavorful rice around a creamy tuna mayo filling sounds like a dream combo. At 1,800 KRW (roughly $1.35 USD), this jumbo-sized version promised a heavy, satisfying meal. Sadly, some dreams turn into nightmares. Here is my 100% honest, unfiltered review!
Priced at 1,800 KRW, it is slightly more expensive than your average triangle gimbap because it belongs to the “Jumbo” lineup. When you hold it in your hand, you can definitely feel a heavy, solid weight at your fingertips. Up until this point, I genuinely thought this was going to be a stellar, filling meal.
The moment I peeled back the plastic packaging, my excitement completely vanished. The state of the rice was incredibly disappointing.
While the red Jeonju Bibimbap sauce seemed evenly mixed throughout the rice, they clearly failed with the moisture control. The sauce was so heavy that the rice grains completely collapsed into a mushy, pasty texture. A huge part of a great Samgak Gimbap is the fluffy, distinct texture of the rice grains—but this one felt like sticky playdough right from the start.
The highly anticipated harmony between spicy mixed rice and creamy tuna mayo simply couldn’t save this tragic texture.
Eating this dry, mushy block without a giant drink to wash it down was a genuine struggle.
At the end of the day, this is a prime example of a product that focused too much on getting “bigger” while completely forgetting the basics of food quality. Unless you love the texture of wet, over-sauced mushy rice, I heavily suggest skipping this one.
