Welcome back to Slurp & Stream! If you read my last post, you know I had some mixed feelings about the Tteokgalbi (patty) version of the Big Samgak Kimbap. Well, today I’m testing its cousin: the CU Big Jeonju Bibim Bulgogi Samgak Kimbap.
At 1,800 KRW (approx. $1.35 USD), it promises the same “Big” satisfaction but with classic Korean Bulgogi beef. Is this the flavor harmony we’ve been waiting for? Let’s dig in!
Just like the other “Big” versions, this one is heavy and satisfyingly large. The rice is pre-mixed with that signature red Gochujang (chili paste) seasoning, giving it a vibrant, appetizing look that screams “Authentic Korea.”
The biggest question was: “Is it a patty or real meat?”
One thing to note is that this is a “bold” snack. The seasoning is quite strong, and if you eat it alone, you might find it a bit salty. It’s definitely designed to be part of a larger flavor combo!
If you are standing in front of the CU cooler and have to choose between the Tteokgalbi and the Bulgogi, go with the Bulgogi. The texture is better, and the flavors actually talk to each other.
Slurp & Stream Pro Tip: Because the flavor is quite strong (salty/spicy), this is the perfect partner for a milder cup of noodles or even a simple bowl of egg drop soup. It’s a 7/10 on its own, but a 10/10 as a side dish!
Better texture, better harmony, and still just $1.35. This is the “Big” kimbap that actually delivers on its promise.
